Gobar means animal dung in Hindi. All of rural India uses it in a variety of ways. Ways that exemplify sustainable existence. That's why we use it, too.

A Silent Promise

Twas a bright night,
when I went out

Silvery and beautiful
Moonlight all around.
Calm, soothing and serene
“This is nature God created,”
I thought
And then it struck me like a bolt
That I, too, am a part of His Creation.
Alas! But this common bondage

Holds us not still
Nor prevent us from shedding
Our fellow creations’ blood
Thus reflecting I retraced my steps
Saddened, but not hopelkess still
In my heart I made a silent
Promise
To help preserve this beauty

As in Nature

Where mornings begin with
Fresh air and chirping of birds
Stands my Kalimpong,
To beautify the queen of hills
With its own beauty
I can hear the gushing Relli
With life in it,
Do not try to pollute it
For my heart will bleed in pain
The blossomed orchids intoxicate
My senses
Truth is beauty and beauty truth
Do not try to pluck them
For my soul will be vanquished.
