A Children's Workshop on Media and Environment

ORGANISED BY THE CENTRE FOR SCIENCE AND ENVIRONMENT

Concerned about the worsening environment in and around your town? Want to do something about it? Get out there all you budding journalists, put on your green editors thinking caps, pen and notebook in hand, cameras around your neck…and get ready to muddy your feet!

Produce your very own Gobar Times, the childrens' supplement to India's leading science and environment fortnightly magazine Down To Earth, on your town or city.

INVESTIGATE! pressing environmental issues of your town or region as a reporter for Gobar Times.
WRITE! about it in your very own Gobar Times special issue.

PRINT! your Gobar Times special issue. Inform your readers. Help make a difference.

Be a young Gobar Times environmental journalist.


The Workshop: A 3-4 day event for school going children from Class VI onwards. Children will constitute the Gobar Times editorial gang of young reporters, editors, photo-journalists and designers to produce a complete special issue on the environment of their town, city or region. They will understand not just environmental issues but the role of a responsible media in bringing about change. The young reporters will be guided by media professionals with years of experience in environmental communications. A hand on experience about how a newspaper is edited, designed and produced.

The Organisers: Centre for Science and Environment (CSE) is a New Delhi based non-profit organisation researching and disseminating information on issues of environment and development. It also helps publish India's leading fortnightly news magazine on science and environment Down To Earth. CSE will team up with a local school, NGO or organisation who will co-host this workshop in their town or city.
