In an effort to appease the rain gods, 18 pairs of animals were married off at the Ganesh
temple in Chennai.
Asses, horses, geese, dogs, crows, monkeys, crabs and
snakes were married off according to Hindu rites.

Greenpeace study.

Ben Metcalfe, a founder of Greenpeace and anti-nuclear activist is dead. He created the
famous campaign: "Ecology? Look it up, youre part of it." As an RAF
aircraft gunner in pre-1947 India, he chose to heed Gandhiji over his orders and dropped
bombs on empty fields instead of villages.
