I went through your website and was
very happy to see these kind of things happening in India. Since my area of interest is
waste management, I was disappointed not to find information on the crisis and waste
issues that India (according to me) is facing. Also if there are any conferences taking
place, please let me know.

University of AucklandGT replies: CSE does not have a
specific programme for waste management, and perhaps that is the reason you were
disappointed. We do conduct workshops and eco-tours for children on solid
waste where they are familiarised with municipal, hospital and toxic waste generation,
collection and disposal. For more information on waste management in India, you can get in
touch with:

This is to inform
you that we have been actively involved in promoting planting of trees by our students and
teachers in and around Hapur. Over the last few years we have planted over 5000 trees and
most of them are growing well. We have conducted a number of camps in Rajaji National Park
and Jim Corbett Park to instruct our students on the balance between man and nature.

I am very
interested in volunteering at the environment education unit for the summer of 2003. I was
wondering if there were any opportunities available there and if I could get some more
information on them.

We have got
a number of bottles and messages from schools, NGOs and individual. Some are mentioned
below. Thank you for supporting our campaign. We will be handing over bottles with your
messages in them to a leading company that uses a lot of plastic packaging.
Dear Plastic Manufacturers/
Merchants, I am concerned at the increasing use of plastics in packaging in India. Despite
all the professed benefits plastics are supposed to bring, it is impossible to ignore the
damage that plastic packaging causes to us. Most of plastic packaging is wasteful and has
other alternatives.
I hope your company will take steps to honour your
manufacturers responsibility and will reduce the use of plastics, apart
from taking care of disposal of the plastic waste generated. Help us to live in a safe and
clean country.
