My feelings on

My feelings on Science
What is Chemistry?
I think it is a mystery
Too many elements to learn
And so much CO2 to burn
I really hate rotten eggs
But I like H2S
Oh, I think that is too much of
chemistry
Let us come to electricity
Yes, it is physics
Which I think is the toughest
Drawing of the microscope
Is difficult than telescope
But our teacher doesnt
understand
and asks us to draw a diagram
Too boring it is
No-interesting it is
I really do not know what
Biology is
It is interesting to read
But boring to feed in our minds
Viruses of all kinds
Oh! Useful plants are easy
But agriculture makes me uneasy
I do not know why
But I love science

This is a suggestion regarding the end page
poster. In the poster on the last page of the Gobar Times no 24, Aug 31, 2002, I fail to
understand how the smaller circle, showing apartment blocks, represent the poor. I feel
that if the picture was recognisable of Delhi/ Bombay, and showed apartments and slums
juxtaposed against each other, it would have been more relevant and made more sense.

GT replies: Thank you so much for your observation. We meant the background of
the poster to denote the city (cow). The circles denote the two stomachs of the city
(cow). We however understand how a person can misunderstand the picture. What we were
saying is that the buildings symbolise the city, and the two stomachs represent the two
classes, rich and poor. It was unfortunate that the small stomach also fell on an
apartment block and thus led people to misunderstanding.
Please refer to the
photograph in the front page Mathrubhumi Daily (October 28, 2002). We request necessary
action against owners and the truck driver, for torturing the elephant, a wild animal,
while transportation, request necessary enquiry of the ownership certificate from the
chief wildlife warden of Kerala, if any issued or not as per the Wildlife (Protection) Act
1972. The authorities are requested to issue necessary instruction for proper treatment of
the elephant which is in Kottayam now. In spite of the state orders, no proper SPCA nor
district animal welfare committee function in Kottayam. Under the district administration,
even circuses that transport their animals for thousands of kilometres do not do such
cruelties.
This incident is a pity.

I
am a member of the conservation group in my school and am interested in choosing a career
in conservation. The list of careers youve given in your website are great, but,
could you offer a wider range in Eco-Careers?

GT replies: Dear Ajooni, our career section on www.cseindia.org is a very basic
one. We are working on it and will be releasing a much bigger and better section later
this year. We will in the meantime, send you a list of courses that you can try for. |
