Scientists in
Texas have successfully cloned a cat. The kitten, called cc (the old typist's abbreviation
for carbon copy), was cloned by transplanting DNA from Rainbow, a female three-coloured
calico cat. CC is not identical to Rainbow, because apparently the pattern on cats' coats
is only partly genetically determined.

United Kingdoms first dung-fired
power station began production of
electricity. The pioneering £7 million plant at Holsworthy in Devon will process 146,000
tonnes of slurry from 30 local farms every year.

possibility that Asteroid 1950 DA will slam

Kingdom, a snowy owl like Hedwig, Harry Potters pet can be bought for about £400
(Rs 28,000). Harry's owl is usually found in extreme northern Canada, Alaska, Europe, and
