green.jpg Wildlife awards were presented by Sanctuary Magazine for the third year, to highlight the role of individuals across the country.

Pandit Hanuman Sharma received the Green Teacher Award for
his work in the villages of the Ranthambhore Tiger Reserve,

Rajasthan. Being a teacher, Sharma’s interaction with children was intense. While teaching, he took upon himself to communicate to them the connection between the survival of the tiger, the forest and the water sources upon which agriculture and people p77_tea.jpg depend.Sharma has some lessons to teach us in integrating environment with curricular subjects. The linkages that he tries to show are very vital, and sometimes get lost in the whole business of ‘saving tigers and planting trees’.

Besides the Green Teacher Award, Sanctuary also gave away awards for Lifetime Achievement and five Wildlife Service Awards.

If you are a teacher who integrates environment in your subject, do write in to us, and be a part of our Gobar Times Environment Educators’ Network (G:NET). Write in your name, address, phone number, area of specialisation and work done to:
