Dear Gobar Times Readers,

reader.jpgI am a gobarwallah. I wear a dhoti. Do you? …No? You are developed and modern. You drive around in cars, you eat hamburgers, you live in Mayfair Gardens…you are a fossil fuel wallah. That’s your style. Fine. But when your style begins to cramp, no, stamp out my life then what am I supposed to do? Or rather what are you supposed to do? Indeed, what are we supposed to do?

Global warming is a problem created by the fossil fuel wallahs — the rich and the industrialised. Last month, 5000 people — government officials, ministerjis, NGO wallahs, media fellows, atmospheric scientists and sundry — from around the world gathered at New Delhi’s Vigyan Bhavan to discuss ways to stop global warming. The earth is warming due to too much carbon in the atmosphere released by human activity. The climate is changing. Millions of the poorest people on earth are now going to face the consequences of lifestyles adopted by a few. So are the fossil fuel-wallahs doing something about it? I and some GT reporters went to Vigyan Bhavan to find out…and..
