Schools from the national capital and Andhra Pradesh were Friday declared as the country’s “greenest” as they bagged the green school awards organised by the Centre for Science and Environment (CSE), an NGO.
Andhra Pradesh’s Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Ongole and Kendriya Vidyalaya, Uppal, and Delhi’s Kendriya Vidyalaya, Vigyan Vihar and Salwan Public School won the awards among 1,500 schools in 18 states.
“It is heartening to see that despite the limited resources, our rural, semi-urban, mid-rung and government educational institutions are actually leading from the front in driving change,” said CSE director general Sunita Narain.
The awards were given by Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit.
