 A  PONDERING PANDITJI

Hey folks,

About shark fishing and swatting pesky mosquitoes. About munching away land and water and flushing away potty. About too many cars on the streets and too dirty fuels running their engines. I have talked about it all in Gobar Times. In fact, it looks like I never stopped talking at all ever since we began publishing!!! But now that I am on the brink of printing the 100th issue, I am pausing to take a deeeeep breath. Whew! What a lot of things we have done together, in these past years…. Remember the time you were recruited as GT’s special investigative reporter, filing stories fresh from your neighbourhood galis?

Or when I turned you into an anopheles, a deadly, malaria-bearing mosquito, with a mission to ‘to bite and sting as many hapless humans’? Or when I staged a special show for you, a drama with two characters—Aditi, the inquisitive city kid, and Arvind, the tribal boy who lived near one of the iron mines in Eastern India? And of course, how can we forget the time I taught you to use Geographical Information System (GIS) to calculate how much carbon di oxide was being emitted daily in your own school?!

We have had great fun, right? And the merriment shall continue, (fingers crossed!). Meanwhile, this issue is dedicated to our pleasurable past. Enjoy it.
